Lucito, Vieheller, Roberts, Denton
Earn First Time Wins
by John Rittenoure
KELLYVILLE, Okla. (July 24, 2010) - Four new
winners emerged Saturday night at Creek County Speedway on a
night that saw all seven classes complete the show in just over
three hours.
Nicholas Lucito, Brittany
Vieheller, Tyler Roberts and Jay Denton visited the
winners circle for the first time this season while Josh
Jeffries and Jeff Record won for the fourth time and Leroy Cook,
Jr. made it two-in-a-row.
Lucito led 19 of 20 laps of the sprint car
feature. Zach Beeler moved into second early but could not close
on Lucito. Ricky York tried to make it a three-car battle but
settled for third.
Robert Scott appeared to be on his way to victory
in the factory stock feature until the final lap when he slid
sideways entering turn one. Roberts took advantage grabbing the
lead in turn two and racing the final half lap to victory. Scott
recovered quickly to salvage second while points leader Jerry
Colby ran third.
Denton inherited his first mini stock win after
race winner Kevin McSperitt, Jr. was disqualified after it was
learned he raced under the point average of Kevin McSperitt by
signing in as that driver. McSperitt battled with Justin
Cartwright until Cartwright pulled out with mechanical problems
on lap 10. Denton wheeled into second followed by Joshua Tyre in
third.
Vieheller won her first career front wheel drive
feature on the dirt and took over the lead in the FWD under 21
class in the process. Vieheller drove into the lead on lap three
and raced to victory over early leader Russell Beck, Jr.
Jeffries won the super stock feature in a close
race with Bobby Wolfe and Johnny DeRamus. After the halfway
point DeRamus challenged Jeffries and Wolfe joined in. At times
DeRamus and Wolfe ran side by side just behind Jeffries but
Jeffries earned his fourth victory with DeRamus edging Wolfe for
second.
Record took over the lead after a lap three
restart in the regular front wheel drive class and went the
distance for the win. Newcomer Kevin Snider passed Dusty Bryant
on the final lap for second but Bryant still earned enough
points to take over the points lead from Eric Barnes who did not
start the race.
It was two in-a-row for Cook who is trying to
make up for lost time this season. Cook has blown a few engines
this season but this time Cook led all the way and finished for
the victory. Jason Redman was second while Craig Chaffin charged
from the rear to finish third.
All classes will return next Saturday for another
night of points racing. Racing will start an hour later until
further notice due to the extreme summer heat. Gates open at 5 p.m. and racing starts
at 8.
